The One Where I Still Love Pacific
So KJC tells me Pacific just... ends. I took that as if she was disappointed. If I feel the same in a few weeks, nothing will stop the fact that some images from the series will stick with me. Episode Seven will be the peak, I would imagine. It's the point where the series kicked up a gear.
There's a scene where one group of soldiers walk out of the battle field, while our main protagonists walk in. They exchange chocolate bars, and half smoked ciggies - a sign of camaraderie, or the guys coming out knowing it may be the guys going in's last ever taste of either?
The battles themselves are ferocious. Violent, short, sharp - and just really visceral. No detail is left unturned. Bugs flying around, or getting inside boots, gnawing away at feet.
I don't stick out many TV shows. Heroes? Na. Smallville? Na. Lost? Hell na.
They're shows I should like, but they all have a common denominator for me - they outstay their welcome. They are cash cows. I wont subscribe to that. Why would I want to watch twenty episodes of Heroes, when Shyamalan does it so much better with Unbreakable?
I love Superman Returns, so I'll stick with that ta. Superman Returns in half hour. Twenty three series of Smallville and he's still not Supes? No sale.
Lost? If I honestly thought it had been mapped out, I would have followed it. I just sit jaw dropped, at how many people will stick it out, when it's blatantly not going to give any satisfactory conclusion. I can watch a David Lynch film for that. At least it's only two hours of my life.
I got side tracked, a bit. I was trying to say how I have loved Pacific. In typical AT style, the lack of press and world acclaim, endears it to me. So if you haven't seen it, and finally do, don't love it too much... you'll put me off.

Wow. I made it to the end without mentioning the shell shocked soldier that was throwing stones into the Japanese soldiers opened head. As in... cut in half, open. And how his mate cut the other dead guys teeth out. You know. For Gold.

I think the way it ended was fitting though, since soldiers got shipped home and are left with "What was the point?" feelings. The war just... ended. The series just... ended. It made perfect directorial sense.
But I loved Band of Brothers more.
As for Smallville, season 9 finale was last week. Tom Welling has become Co-Exec Producer for the last two seasons, and it's been insanely better than seasons 4-7 trash. (please bring back Lex, Tom.) I'll never leave you for bashing Smallville, Lloyd. Now Supernatural bashing? You and I? We're fucking done, professionally.
